
Men's Basketball Falls Just Short Against Delaware, 76-69

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team trimmed an 18-point deficit down to a single point Friday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium, but fell just short to Delaware, 76-69.
Senior Ryan Langborg finished with a team-high 16 points, knocked down a season-high four three pointers, pulled down five rebounds and handed out four assists. Freshman Xaivian Lee tied his season-high with 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the field and 2-for-3 shooting from three, and junior Matt Allocco added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Caden Pierce added a season-high 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field and five rebounds, while senior Keeshawn Kellman rounded out double-digit scorers for Princeton with 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The Tigers were led in assists by senior Tosan Evbuomwan, who had five.
The Tigers took the lead early, going up 7-4 with 16:46 on the clock after a pair of Kellman layups and an Allocco three-pointer. Delaware would soon take a lead of their own, going up 11-9 with 15:39 remaining in the half.
Shortly after, a three-pointer by Langborg at 15:23 ignited a 7-0 run, that saw the Tigers go up 16-11 following a layup by Lee with 12:11 on the clock. Delaware bounced back, using a 7-0 run of their own to jump ahead, 24-20, with 7:48 remaining in the half, before closing the half out on a 9-0 run to take a 37-25 advantage into halftime.
Delaware came out of halftime and extended its lead to 45-29 with 17:26 left to play. Pierce sank a three-pointer with 14:46 on the clock to make it a 49-34 contest, but Delaware would make it an 18-point game, 54-36, at 12:33.
Princeton would claw away at the lead, with a long three-pointer from the top of the circle by Langborg with 8:58 remaining trimming the deficit to 10 points, 58-48. A three-point play by Pierce made it a single-digit game, 62-53, with 6:15 on the clock before a 7-0 run by Lee, which included a four-point play, made it a 66-62 game at 3:36.
An Allocco three-pointer made it a two-point game 67-65, with 3:03 on the clock, then the Tigers cut the lead to one at 69-68 thanks to another three-pointer by Allocco with 0:53 remaining.
Despite the late rally, Delaware was accurate from the free throw line down the stretch and held on for the 76-69 victory.
