
Strong Showing for Men's Track & Field at TCNJ Indoor Open

New York, N.Y. - The Princeton University men's track & field team began its 2022-23 campaign with an impressive showing at The College of New Jersey Indoor Open inside the Armory in New York.

The Princeton men secured several, top-ten school records, and several Tigers made their official collegiate track and field debuts at Saturday's meet.Â

All of the Tigers entered in the Men's 1 Mile Run secured the top-four spots. Sam Rodman took first (4:06.00), Ethan Reese placed second (4:07.18), Sebastian Fisher came in third (4:07.55), and Jackson Shorten placed fourth (4:09.99).Â

William Doyle finished the 600m with a time of 1:20.50 to take first, and Jordan Kaplan finished with 1:21.62 to place third.Â

First year, Greg Foster, made a memorable collegiate debut, running the ninth best time in school history within the Men's 60m Hurdles. Foster finished with a time of 8.06, surpassing the previous record time of 8.10. Philip Kastner, who came in second, finished with a time of 8.10.Â

The remaining hurdlers also had admirable performances in the Armory. Jovan Aigbekaen took third place (8.15), Albert Kreutzer fourth (8.24), and Easton Tan placed fifth (8.41).

Joseph Fast was the only Tiger to compete in the Men's 1000m and came in first with a time of 2:32.06. Another lone Tiger in the Men's 5000m, Jack Gregorski secured first place with a time of 15:01.13.

In the Men's 300m, more Tiger records were broken. Andersen Dimon with a time of 33.57, ran the second-best time in school history and took first place at the meet.Â

Joey Gant took third place with a time of 34.46, and recorded the fifth best time in school history, beating the previous time of 34.58. Isa Hitches also came in 14th with a time of 36.93.

The 4x400 meter relay featured a first place Tiger finish as well. The team of Ladislav Töpfer, William Doyle, Andersen Dimon, and Aiden Silvestri reached the finish line first. (3:19.25)

A trio of Tigers had an impressive finish within the Pole Vault event. Sondre Guttormsen took first (5.60 m) , Simen Guttormsen came in second (5.30 m), and Nick Molloy placed third (4.85 m).Â

Two tigers placed within the top-five for the Men's Long Jump. Ilay Furman came in second with a distance of 6.90m and Lorenzo Cagiero took third jumping 6.85 m.Â

John Hogan had a strong performance, placing second within the Men's High Jump. Hogan managed to jump a total of 2.01 m. Â

Asher Robbins made his collegiate debut in the Men's Weight Throw. Robbins took second place with a distance of 16.46m.Â

To wrap up the day, a trio of Tigers swept the top-three spots in Shot Put. Joe Licata (16.43), Tyler Konopka (16.35), and Casey Helm (15.74) all managed to dominate the event for the Tigers and end Saturday's meet on a high-note.Â
