Davidson, Winterborn Named NFHCA Scholars Of Distinction
February 15, 2022 | Field Hockey
There are scholar-athletes, and then there are scholar-athletes. Those are the Scholars of Distinction.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association honors the best of the best scholar-athletes with the title of Scholar of Distinction, which goes only to those field hockey players with at least a 3.9 grade-point average. The Princeton field hockey team was represented on that elite list by two players, Samantha Davidson and Peggy Winterborn.
"We're all so proud of Sam and Peggy for this incredible honor," says Princeton head coach Carla Tagliente. "To achieve the way they have as players while also being able to be that successful in the classroom is amazing. They're both very impressive, and we are thrilled to have them represent our program."
Davidson, a sophomore from North Andover, Mass., is a sociology major, played in 16 games this past season, starting 13 times on defense. She also had two goals and two assists. Winterborn is a freshman from Huntshaw, England, who played in all 17 games, starting 16, in 2021. She had a goal and an assist.
