No. 29 Men's Tennis Opens Blue Gray Classic With 4-1 Triumph Over No. 66 Nebraska
February 25, 2022 | Men's Tennis
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 29 Princeton University men's tennis team opened the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic with its fourth win over a Big Ten opponent in the 2022 season, defeating the University of Nebraska, 4-1.
"I felt our guys handled the weather delays and move indoors to Auburn this morning well," said head coach Billy Pate. "Once again, the doubles was pivotal to kick start some momentum but we had to fend off Nebraska in singles. They fought us hard at every position and we had to respond. Thomas did a good job of rallying back and serving his match out against out to secure the 4th point. We'll get ready for the doubles point later versus the winner of Auburn and VCU."
The Tigers started off by winning the doubles point; at No. 1, No. 35 Ryan Seggerman and Justin Barki took down Nic Wiedenhorn and Victor Moreno Lozano, 7-5. At the No. 3 spot, Thomas Bosancic and Filippos Astreinidis earned a 6-3 victory over Patrick Cacciatore and Rudra Dixit.
In singles, No. 107 Seggermn outlasted Dario Huber at the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2, while Damian Rodriguez toppled Wiedenhorn at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4. At No. 4, Bosancic upended Shunya Maruyama, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
