Softball Team Wraps Opening Weekend in Florida

The first weekend of the 2022 season is in the books for the Princeton softball team, which fell to North Florida on Sunday 7-0 to close the Tigers' play in the Spring Games event in Leesburg, Fla.
Five of UNF's seven runs came between the fifth and sixth innings, as the game remained scoreless entering the bottom of the third. UNF had two singles and a double steal attempt to push a run across in the bottom of the third, and in the fourth, the Ospreys used a leadoff walk to Paige Pfent to set up a Gianna Niemeier run-scoring single to make it 2-0 headed to the fifth.
UNF added three runs in the fifth, getting two walks and RBI hits from Shannon Glover and Pfent before Glover scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0. In the sixth, a walk to Regan Hermeling and a double for Savannah Channell put two on before an error that allowed both to score to make it 7-0.
