Baseball Falls to Towson in Series Opener
March 18, 2022 | Baseball
Nadir Lewis continued his hot hitting streak to start the season. The reigning Ivy League Player of the Week went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored, and a home run. Jackson Emus, Brendan Cumming, and Noah Granet also chipped in with two hits each.
Princeton got on the board first in the top of the second inning. Matt Scannell crushed a no-doubter to right-center field to put the visiting Tigers up, 1-0.

One inning later, Lewis mashed Princeton's second solo shot of the day to double the advantage.
Opposing pitchers must have nightmares about facing @nadirlewis.

The hosts mustered a response with a string of runs in the bottom of the fourth. After a leadoff single, a two-run home run to right field tied the game at 2-2. Back-to-back home runs—one for three runs and one solo shot—gave the hosts a 6-2 lead after four innings.
Princeton punched right back. Cumming was the catalyst for a three-run inning with a double down the line. An infield error put runners on the corners before Lewis drove in his second run of the day with a single up the middle. Emus plated Princeton's fourth run of the game with an RBI double to left field, and Lewis made it a one-run game as he scored on a wild pitch to make it a 6-5 ball game.
An RBI single by Lewis, an RBI double from Emus, and a wild pitch put Princeton right back in it ??

Towson restored its multi-run lead in the sixth. Two walks and a batter hit by pitch loaded the bases with one out. An infield RBI single and a fielding error allowed two Towson runners to reach home. A solo homer in the bottom of the seventh extended the hosts' lead to 9-5.
Princeton pulled one back in the top of the eighth courtesy of an RBI double from Cumming, but Towson stymied any ensuing Princeton threat to hold on for the victory.
