Laudenslager No-Hitter Highlights Softball Team's Series Sweep of Brown
March 20, 2022 | Softball
Alexis Laudenslager's no-hitter in Sunday's first game of a doubleheader against Brown was part of a weekend sweep that saw Princeton pitchers turn in 20 consecutive shutout innings including 15 straight hitless innings as the Tigers were 2-0 and 7-0 winners on Sunday at Princeton Softball Stadium at Strubing Field.
Laudenslager, a junior, threw her first career no-hitter in the 2-0 win, allowing just a fourth-inning walk for what was Brown's only baserunner in Sunday's opener. The no-hitter was the 28th in program history, first one by a Tiger since Ali Blanchard threw one against Towson in 2019, first for Princeton in Ivy play since 2006, first seven-inning no-hitter for Princeton in Ivy play since 2005, both by Erin Snyder '06, and was the 15th no-hitter for Princeton in Ivy play and sixth of seven innings or more.
Laudenslager struck out a career-high 10 in the win, surpassing the nine Ks she had against Drexel in 2021.Â

Princeton got both of its runs in the opener in the second inning. Sophia Marsalo walked and Lauren Sablone singled to start the inning, and an error on the ball Sablone put in play allowed Marsalo to score and Sablone to take two more bases as well. A Grace Jackson groundout then brought home Marsalo from third for the 2-0 lead.
In game two, Blanchard went six innings and struck out 11 batters, making it the second time in nine days Blanchard has fanned 11 along with an eight-inning win over Manhattan on March 12 in Florida. The total was just one off Blanchard's career high of 12 from 2019 against Brown. Meghan Harrington closed out the win in the seventh, and the Bears had one hit in game two, coming on a Moe Kastens fourth-inning double.
Rookie Allison Ha opened the scoring with her first career home run in the first inning to give Princeton a 1-0 lead. In the third inning, a double for Ashley McDonald and a Ha single put two on for Adrienne Chang, who singled home McDonald to make it 2-0. Marsalo reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a double steal to make it 3-0.Â
Princeton tacked on three runs in the fourth on four hits and two walks as nine batters came to the plate. A passed ball and a wild pitch each brought home a run, and then a Marsalo double made it 6-0. Princeton's last run came in the fifth, when a Serena Starks groundout followed a walk to Lauren Murphy and a Blanchard single.
Now 3-0 in the Ivy and winner of seven of eight overall, Princeton will host Villanova for a single non-league game on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
