Princeton enters the weekend one game back of Harvard in the Ivy League standings, at 8-4 with the Crimson at 9-3. Princeton holds the tiebreaker over Harvard thanks to Princeton's series win over the Crimson last month, two games to one. The Tigers are a half-game up on Dartmouth (6-3), with the Big Green having one more series left to play than Princeton.
Since the Ivy slate changed to seven three-game series in 2018, Princeton swept the series in New Haven in 2018 and took two of three in Princeton in 2019. Princeton has either won, swept or split every three-game series or doubleheader against Yale since the Bulldogs' last doubleheader sweep of Princeton in 2010. Since Lisa Van Ackeren took over as coach of the Tigers in 2013, Princeton's record against Yale is 12-3.
Rookie Sophia Marsalo is leading the Tigers at the plate, hitting .355, with Adrienne Chang (.344), Lauren Sablone (.320), Serena Starks (.314) and Allison Ha (.302) all hitting over .300 to help the team average an Ivy-best .274 on the season. Ali Blanchard (6-3 W-L, 2.65 ERA) and Alexis Laudenslager (6-7, 2.69) have combined for 139 of the team's 200 innings in the circle.
Following the weekend, Princeton will have its final home Ivy series of the regular season, hosting Penn on April 23 and 24.
