No. 19 Men’s Track & Field Finds Success on Final Day of Two Competitions

PHILADELPHIA / EWING, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track and field team concluded a busy weekend of competition, finishing strong at both the Penn Relays and TCNJ Outdoor Invitational.
Beginning with the Penn Relays, C.J. Licata placed third in the shot-put championship with a distance of 19.38 meters. Additionally, Jeffrey Hollis earned third place in the high jump championship with a leap of 2.17 meters.
Moving on to the TCNJ Outdoor Invitational, the Tigers went one-two-three in the 110 meter-hurdles. Taraje Whitfield (14.48) earned the top spot, followed by Jovan Aigbekaen (14.51) and Albert Kreutzer (14.64).
Whitfield also scored first place in the 400-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 53.36 meters.
In the 200 meters, Ladislav Topfer crossed the finish line in 21.46, good for first place in the event.
Three Tigers competed in the 800 meters, including Sebastian Fisher (1:54.41) in fifth, Josiah Taylor (1:57.87) in 17th and Jack Kenkel (1:59.68) in 30th.
In the 1500 meters, Sebastian Fisher earned second place with a time of 3:54.51.
Paul Brennan and William Cauley finished one-two in the hammer throw, with distances of 60.05 meters and 57.54 meters respectively. Brennan's toss was a personal best, as the junior thrower remains eighth all-time in school history.
Tyler Konopka secured first place in the shot put with a toss of 16.56 meters.
In the discus, Avery Shunneson (53.01 m) earned the top spot while Tyler Konopka (47.35 m) was fourth.
In the high jump, John Hogan landed in second place after clearing 1.90 meters.
Zach Jaramillo placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 59.60 meters.
In the triple jump, Ilay Furman took fifth with a leap of 13.57 meters.
Up next: The Tigers will travel to New Haven, Connecticut for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships from May 7th – May 8th.
