Baseball Returns to Clarke Field for Series Against Cornell

Princeton, N.J. — Princeton returns to home soil this weekend as it welcomes Cornell to Clarke Field for the season's third Ivy League series. The meeting between the Tigers and the Big Red will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 9 at 11:30 a.m. and conclude with the series finale on Sunday at noon.
Princeton is 2-20 and 0-6 in Ivy League play entering the weekend. The Tigers are coming off a midweek defeat at Seton Hall and a weekend sweep at the hands of Columbia.
The Tigers are having no trouble hitting the ball. They've reached double digits in hits in five of their last six games and 12 total times this season. Their 216 hits are good for third-best in the Ivy League.
Brendan Cumming leads Princeton with 38 hits. He also ranks second on the team with 20 RBI. Leading the Tigers in RBI is Nadir Lewis, who has 22 on 32 hits. In Ivy League play, Matt Scannell has shone. He leads Princeton hitters with a .522 batting average and seven RBI in six Ancient Eight games.
The Tigers will likely use their usual rotation of Jackson Emus, Tom Chmielewski, and Andrew D'Alessio on the mound this weekend.
On the other side of the diamond, Cornell comes into the weekend with a 6-12 record. The Big Red is 2-4 in Ivy League play after taking two out of three against Yale last weekend. Princeton leads the all-time series against Cornell with a 150-100-2 record. The Tigers have fared well at home against the Big Red, taking an 86-45-1 record in games played in Princeton, N.J.
