Women's Open Rowing Retains Class Of 1975 Cup
April 09, 2022 | Women's Rowing - Open
Princeton claimed its seventh consecutive Class of 1975 Cup race with an open water win over Radcliffe and Cornell on Fish Creek in Saratoga.
The Tigers won all eight races they contested at the regatta, with the Class of 1975 Cup victory highlighting the day. The Tigers hit the finish line first in a time of 6:26.062 in the 1V, and were 25 seconds ahead of Radcliffe and 33 seconds clear of Cornell to keep the Class of 1975 Cup in Princeton. Bucknell was the second place finisher in the 1V race, guesting in with the Ivy crews and crossing second in 6:48.038.
In the afternoon, the 1V secured a second win in Saratoga with a 19.3-second win over Wisconsin.
"It was a good day with positive results. The team continues to improve as they prepare for May," said head coach Lori Dauphiny. "This was a great event, it was awesome to be around such strong crews. The team enjoyed the opportunity to experience a new venue despite the rain. It was also nice to race with Wisconsin. They are not in our traditional schedule and traveled far to join us. The racing experience this weekend was invaluable."
The Tigers head to Yale next weekend, rowing for the Eisenberg Cup.
