May 01, 2022 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 1 Princeton Women's Lightweight Rowing Team had a stellar day at the Eastern Sprints, collecting two gold medals and the overall team points trophy.
"We are really proud of the way our team raced out there today," said Princeton head coach Paul Rassam. "They charged and were courageous in every event. This is the first time our team has won the team points trophy and it is a special day for our program."
The 1V8 raced out to almost a five-second victory (6:32.76) over Georgetown (6:37.26). Harvard, BU and Wisconsin followed the Hoyas. It's the first time that Princeton has won consecutive golds since 2002-03. It's also the fourth straight Sprints with a medal for the Tigers.
Princeton's 2X of Amelia Boehle and Kasey Shashaty secured another top spot with a time of 7:38.819, almost four seconds in front of Harvard. BU and Gordon rounded out the field.
The Tigers' 4+ boat picked up a bronze medal (7:40.74), trailing by Wisconsin and Harvard. The 4+ B quad rowed to an 8:09.23.
