Baseball Wraps Up Season Against Penn
May 13, 2022 | Baseball
Princeton, N.J. — Princeton wraps up its season this weekend as its old foe, Penn, visits Clarke Field for a three-game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 14, at 11:30 a.m. The series and season finale will follow on Sunday at noon.
The Tigers will look to end the season on a high. They enter the series at 7-30 and 3-15 in Ivy League play. Princeton is coming off a 10-day hiatus following its 6-5 walk-off victory against Monmouth on May 4.
Princeton enters the series with five batters hitting .300 or better. As has been the case nearly all season, Brendan Cumming leads the Tigers and ranks second in the ivy league with 65 hits and a .382 batting average. Jackson Emus (.346), Nadir Lewis (.315), Eric Marasheski (.307), and Matt Scannell (.300) round out the other five.
When he's not at the dish, Emus is starting on the hump for the Tigers. He ranks fifth among Ivy League pitchers with 10+ starts with a 4.02 ERA after 62.2 innings pitched this season. He also ranks fifth among Ancient Eight pitchers with 65 strikeouts. Tom Chmielewski and Andrew D'Alessio will most likely start the series' other two games. Both pitched at least six innings in Princeton's most recent series.
Penn comes into the series second in the Ivy League standings with a 14-4 conference record. The Tigers hold a 161-115-3 all-time record against the Quakers. Recent history favors Penn—it has taken eight of the last 10 meetings against Princeton.
Saturday's doubleheader will be available to watch with a subscription to ESPN+. Sunday's series finale will not be streamed, but it (as well as games one and two) can be followed via live stats or with updates at @PUTigerBaseball on Twitter and Instagram.
