No. 16 Men’s Track & Field Sets School Record in the 800 Meters

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track and field team delivered a brilliant final weekend, setting a new program record as well as five top-10 school records.
Sam Rodman earned the top spot in the 800 meters, turning in a school record time of 1:47.25.
Simang'aliso Ndhlovu finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.60.
In the 200 meters, Ladislav Topfer crossed the finish line in third, turning in a mark of 21.51.
Taraje Whitfield (14.30) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles while Jovan Aigbekaen (14.73) took fifth. Whitfield's time lands him fifth all-time in school history.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Chris Paige (53.43) secured fifth place while Taraje Whitfield (54.61) was eighth.
Six other Tigers competed in the 800 meters, including Kieran McDermott (1:49.07) in sixth, Ethan Reese (1:51.19) in 16th, Connor Chen (1:52.43) in 19th, Joe Fast (1:53.34) in 21st, Josiah Taylor (1:54.03) in 25th and Jack Kenkel (1:58.41) in 30th.
Sam Ellis took first place in the 1500 meters, with a time of 3:39.54. That marks ranks third all-time in school history. Additionally, Duncan Miller (3:42.33) crossed the finish line in seventh, followed by Sebastian Fisher (3:45.77) in 16th and Harrison Witt (3:52.34) in 27th.
Ed Trippas finished third in the 2000-meter steeplechase with a time of 5:28.14.
In the 5000 meters, Nicholas Bendtsen was the first to cross the finish in a time of 13:44.81, which moves him into fifth all-time in school history. Connor Nisbet (14:08.99) was seventh, Daniel O'Brien (14:27.71) 11, Jack Stanley (14:34.34) 13th, Jarrett Kirk (14:42.87) 15th and Nate Tavakolian (14:48.49) in 19th.
Jakob Kintzele secured first place in the 10000 with time of 28.55.91, landing third all-time in school history. Kevin Berry (29:03.69) followed Kintzele in second.
Chandler Ault took the top spot in the javelin, recording a distance of 69.74 meters.
In the shot put, Tyler Konopka earned second place with a toss of 16.77 meters.
The Tigers went one-two in the hammer throw, with Paul Brennan (58.93 m) edging William Cauley (57.71 m) for the top spot in the event.
Will Drury placed second in the pole vault with a distance of 5.21 meters, placing him eighth all-time in school history.
Aviram Shwarzbard leapt a distance of 7.26 meters in the long jump, landing him in first place.
In the high jump, Jeffrey Hollis cleared 2.13 meters to claim victory in the event.
Dayo Abeeb (14.65 m) secured third place in the triple jump while Austin Princewill (13.52 m) took seventh.
Up next: The NCAA Regionals will take place from May 25th – May 28th at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington, Indiana.
