CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 39 Princeton University men's tennis team will face the No. 16 University of Arizona Wildcats in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Tigers finished the regular season with a record of 18-8, including a 6-4 conference record. Princeton was undefeated at home, and won six consecutive matches during the month of March.
Should the Tigers advance, they will face the winner of No. 15 ranked University of North Carolina and the Naval Academy on Saturday, May 7th.
Princeton at the NCAA Tournament
The Tigers will be appearing in the NCAA tournament for ninth time in school history, and first since 2015. Princeton fell 4-1 to Minnesota in the opening round that year with Head Coach Billy Pate at the helm.
Tigers in the rankings
Ryan Seggerman (16-9) checks in at No. 55 in singles, while Seggerman and partner Justin Barki (12-3) are listed at No. 32 in doubles. As a team, the Tigers rank 39th in the nation.
Scouting Arizona
Winners of their first ever Pac-12 Championships, the No. 17 Wildcats went 20-12 during the regular, boasting a perfect 7-0 conference record. Arizona has three ranked singles players, including No. 52 Jonas Eriksson Ziverts (10-16), No. 53 Gustaf Strom (14-6) and No. 116 Herman Hoeyeraal (21-8). The tandem of Ziverts and Hoeyeraal (6-9) are ranked No. 50 in doubles.
