No. 22 Men’s Track & Field Seeks to Complete Heps Triple Crown

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Ivy League champions in cross country and indoor track, the Princeton University men's track and field team will look to complete the Heps triple crown by claiming the outdoor track title this weekend. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7th at the Cuyler Athletic Complex and Dwyer Track on the campus of Yale University.
The Tigers earned first place at the 2019 Ivy League Outdoor Championships, completing the Heps triple crown for the ninth time in school history. Seven members of the orange and black earned Ivy League titles, including Joey Daniels in the 110-meter hurdles, Ed Trippas in the steeplechase, Jeffery Hollis in the high jump, Jesse Thibodeau in the long jump, Dayo Abeeb in the triple jump, Kelton Chastulik in the shot put and Adam Kelly in the hammer throw. Kelly was also named Co-Outstanding Field Performer of the meet.
In their most recent outing at the Penn Relays, Princeton's Ed Trippas (8:30.25) set a new personal best in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Meanwhile, at the TCNJ Outdoor Invitational, the Tigers earned six first place finishes. That includes Paul Brennan (60.05 m), who set a new personal best in the shot put.
The Tigers were ranked 22nd overall in the latest USTFCCCA rating index, with the orange and black holding three top-10 marks in the nation. Sondre Guttormsen (5.75 m) and Simen Guttormsen (5.65 m) rank second and fourth in the pole vault and Robbie Otal (61.71 m) ranks eighth in the discus.
Four more from the orange and black rank in the top-20 in the nation. Chandler Ault (72.35 m) ranks 12th in the pole vault, C.J. Licata (19.41 m) ranks 16th in the shot put, Aviram Shwarzbard (7.85 m) ranks 17th in the long jump and Jeffrey Hollis (2.17 m) ranks 18th in the high jump.
