Women’s Track & Field Finishes Third at 2022 Outdoor Heps

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Along with finishing just four points behind first-place, the Princeton University women's track & field team concluded the he 2022 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships with four event titles Sunday at Dwyer Track.
Princeton finished third with 133 points, narrowly behind Harvard University who were second with 136 points, and the University of Pennsylvania who were first with 137. Along with their four event championships, the Tigers also set three new school records, and Kate Joyce was honored as the Most Outstanding Field Performer. Joyce's mark of 51.96 meters in the javelin saw her win the event, and set new Ivy League, Heps meet, and school recods.
Along with earning a first-place finish, the team of Brianna Mponzi, Nia Mosby, Olivia Hee, and Grace Lanouette set a new school record in the 4x100 meter relay, with a time of 45.19. They bested the previous record set 10 years ago at 2012 Outdoor Heps of 46.03 but Abidemi Adenikinju '13, Emily Easton '15, Erin Guty '13, and Eileen Moran '12.
Siniru Iheoma won a pair of Ivy League titles in her first outdoor Heps, finishing in first-place in both the discus and the shot put. In the discus, she produced a throw of 50.36 meters, good for No. 3 all-time at Princeton. The mark beats her previous PR of 50.12 meters, set at the 2022 Larry Ellis Invitational, which was also ranked No. 3 all-time in school history. Also competing in the discus was Jalah Morris, who finished third with a mark of 46.31 meters, a mark that moves her up to No. 8 all-time at Princeton, besting the previous No. 8 mark of 45.47 meters set by Missy Hake '92 at the 1992 May Day Meet. Luisa Chantler Edmond also finished fifth, with a best throw of 45.42 meters.
In the shot put, Iheoma claimed first-place honors after a heave of 15.20 meters. Morris also finished seventh after a 13.11-meter heave.
In the 200 meters, Mosby finished in second place and set a new school record of 23.67. She beat the previous program record of 23.70 set by Nicole Harrison '98 in 1997 Outdoor Heps, and her old PR of 23.95 set at the 2022 Virginia Challenge. Mosby previously sat at No. 2 on the Tigers' all-time list.
Caroline Timm took second in the 1,500 meters, finishing in 4:23.31. Maggie Hock also finished as runner-up in the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.61, and Tia Rozario finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.74 meters. Due to the wind exceeding 2.0 m/s, the mark is ineligible for the Tigers' all-time top-10.
After finishing in 17:10.34, Fiona Max finished third in the 5,000 meters. Abby Loveys also finished seventh, in 17:26.94.
Lily Parris' time of 13.99 in the 100-meter hurdles saw her earn a fourth-place finish, and moved her out of a tie for fifth all-time at Princeton with Isabella Hilditch. She topped her previous PR of 14.13 set at the 2022 Virginia Invitational.
In the steeplechase, India Weir finished third in 10:44.90 and Lexi Allen fourth in 10:45.19. Lucca Fulkerson came in seventh in 10:55.73.
With a time of 1:00.25, Arianna Smith finished third in the 400 hurdles.
Brianna Mponzi finished fourth in the 100 meters, with a time of 11.99. Grace Lanouette finished seventh in 12.10, and Olivia Hee eighth in 12.12.
After clearing 1.70 meters, Madeleine Wood finished eighth in the high jump.
