Timm's time of 4:13.64 In the 1,500 set at the NCAA East Regional stands as the No. 2 fastest time in school history, a race she finished 10th in and advanced to the NCAA Championships. She was runner-up in the 1,500 at Outdoor Heps, and earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors in the event. Timm's time of 2:04.69 in the 800 meters from the 2022 Princeton Elite Invitational also ranks No. 2 all-time on the Tigers' outdoor list.
Indoor season was also a success for Timm, where she was the Ivy League Champion and a First Team All-Ivy League honoree in the 1,000 meters, an event she ranks No. 5 all-time in school history thanks to her time of 2:47.83. Additionally, Timm was part of the DMR team that holds the school record of 11:11.00, set at the 2022 Dr. Sander Invitational. She also ranks No. 2 on Princeton's indoor list in the mile thanks to her time of 4:39.65 from the 2022 Boston University Valentine Invitational, and No. 3 in the 800 meters, after finishing in 2:06.52 at the 2022 Sykes & Sabock Challenge.
Kate Joyce
Joyce is coming off an NCAA East Regional that saw her finish eighth, with a mark of 50.86 meters. She is the current Princeton record holder, after a heave of 51.96 meters at Heps, where she was named Most Outstanding Field Performer.
No stranger to competing on the national stage, Joyce also competed at the 2021 NCAA East Regional as a freshman in Jacksonville, Florida. She narrowly missed out on advancing to the NCAA Championships, finishing 16th out of 47 competitors.
A Strong Season For The Tigers
Timm and Joyce will wrap up a strong year for Princeton, which saw the Tigers finish a close second at Indoor Heps, and a close third at Outdoor Heps.
At Indoor Heps, the Tigers scored over 100 points, had five first-place and three-second place finishes, and had a three-minute stretch where they won four-straight event titles (the 800 meters, 100 meters, triple jump, shot put).
The Tigers' 131 points at Outdoor Heps saw them finish only four points behind first place, and they led the meet throughout the late stages, while they also won four event titles and set three new school records.
Princeton at the NCAA Championships
Timm and Joyce bring the Tigers' total number of NCAA Outdoor Championship competitors to 33, for a meet that began in 1982. The Tigers have had one NCAA Champion, Julia Ratcliffe in the hammer throw in 2014, and Princeton has had 36 All-America selections.
Most recently, Obiageri Amaechi '21 competed at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Amaechi earned Second Team All-America honors, finishing 13th with a best throw of 54.83 meters.
