Yale Scores Early, Holds On Against Princeton

A sixth-minute goal from Yale's Ellie Rappole turned out to be the only goal of the game as the host Bulldogs took the Ivy League opener from the Princeton women's soccer team Saturday night in New Haven, 1-0.
Rappole threaded a shot from just inside the 18 under the crossbar, and though Princeton outshot Yale 19-9 overall and 6-2 on goal, Rappole provided the game winner early on.
Princeton will have a non-league match at Bucknell on Tuesday before returning to Ivy competition on Oct. 1, hosting Dartmouth.
