Ranked Foes: No. 9 Cornell and No. 5 Colgate will be the seventh and eighth top-10 opponents for the Tigers this season over the team's first 18 games.Â
Hobey 100: Princeton celebrated the 100th anniversary of the opening of Hobey Baker Rink last weekend and drew 2,161 combined to the two games, with 1,544 attending Saturday's win over Harvard. The figures have Princeton fifth in the nation in average attendance at 656, behind Wisconsin (2,243), Minnesota (1,646), Minnesota-Duluth (889) and Quinnipiac (675), with Penn State sixth (607).
The Series with Cornell and Colgate:Â Princeton leads the all-time series with Cornell 48-42-7. The Big Red are 2-0-2 since Princeton's last win in the series in the 2020 ECAC final in Ithaca. Against Colgate, Princeton leads 31-12-5 with the Raiders 2-0-1 since Princeton's last win in Dec. 2019 at Baker. Princeton last won in Hamilton in Nov. 2019.
Stat Rankings: Entering the week, Princeton stood 14th in scoring defense (2.12 goals allowed/game) and in team GAA (2.112), 15th in faceoff win percentage (.519) and 16th in winning percentage (.594) and PK percentage (.854). Individually, Taylor Hyland is fifth in save percentage (.941), 10th in GAA (1.677) and 18th in winning percentage (.643). Sarah Fillier is 13th in faceoff wins (240), 13th in goals/game (0.62) and 20th in points/game (1.31).Â
Checking the Charts: Two players are making moves high up on Princeton's career list. Senior Maggie Connors stands 14th with 67 career goals and is two out of what would be a three-way tie for 12th. Junior Sarah Fillier has 81 career assists, standing seventh and two out of sixth. With the 81 assists (record is 122) and 135 points (record is 218), Fillier is more than halfway to both records with a season-plus to go.
Outshoot 'em: Princeton has outshot its opponent on goal in 12 of 16 games on the season. On the season, Princeton is averaging 35.3 shots a game to 24.9 for its opponent.Â
Rookies: While rookie Taylor Hyland had her first career shutout on Saturday against Harvard, classmate Issy Wunder won ECAC Rookie of the Week honors for a three-goal weekend. Wunder has scored a point in eight straight games, nearly the longest streak among active Tigers as only Maggie Connors (10 games) and Sarah Fillier (nine) had longer streaks earlier in their careers. Wunder is one of three Tiger rookies who have scored their first career goals this season. Wunder (six goals), Katherine Khramtsov (four) and Emerson O'Leary (four) account for three of Princeton's top five goal scorers this season.
Between the Pipes: Sophomore Jennifer Olnowich has played just short of 60 percent of the minutes in goal this season with rookie Taylor Hyland playing the other 40-plus percent. Hyland has the lower GAA, at 1.68 to 2.23 for Olnowich, and Hyland has the edge in save percentage, .941 to .900.
Olympic Gold: Junior Sarah Fillier returned to Princeton this season for the first time since the 2019-20 season that ended due to the pandemic just before the NCAA tournament. In the meantime, Fillier helped Canada to two IIHF World Championships and Olympic gold. At the Olympics, Fillier co-led Canada in goals (five) and led the team in points (11).
ECACH Standings: Princeton stands sixth in the ECAC, seven points in front of ninth-place Union for the final spot in the playoffs and seven points behind fourth-place Cornell for the final quarterfinal hosting spot. If the season ended today, though teams have played differing numbers of games, Princeton would go to third-place Colgate for the best-of-three quarterfinals and Quinnipiac, five points up on second-place Yale, would host the ECAC semis and finals if it advanced out of the quarters.
