Women's Track and Field Team Dominates Weekend Meets, Tessa Mudd Sets New Ivy League Record

The Princeton Women's Track and Field Team wrapped up two days of stellar competition on Saturday evening, with the Villanova Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. The Tiger womens' depth was on full display as the team managed to record multiple personal records as well as all-time, Princeton performances.
Wesley A. Brown Invitational
On Friday afternoon Julia Jongejeugd kicked off competition for the Tiger women, competing in the pentathlon at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational in Annapolis M.D.
Julia placed 4th in the pentathlon, finishing with 3226 points. She placed 9th in the 60m hurdles (9.56), 3rd in the high jump (1.56m), 1st in the shot put (11.75m), 8th in the long jump (5.13 m), and 7th in the 800m (2:38:47).
Jongejeugd's performance was a strong way to open her first collegiate Pentathlon, setting a new, personal record in the Shot Put.
Villanova Invitational
The Princeton women's track and field team also had a successful performance at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Tessa Mudd secured first place in the pole vault with a height of 4.31m/ 14'2''. Mudd's performance not only puts her at the No. 1 spot on the Princeton top-10 performances list, but she also sets a new, Ivy League record. Mudd is also currently ranked No. 6 in the NCAA. She will certainly be a key athlete to watch as the indoor season continues on, as both the Indoor Heptagonal and NCAA Championships will soon approach.
SJ Cohen took second place in the pole vault event, with a height of 3.75m.
Georgina Scoot dominated in the triple jump, taking first place with a distance of 12.33m. She executed an admirable season opener, and now will place at the No. 5 spot on the top-10 performance list.
Lily Paris recorded an all-time performance in the 60 hurdles. She finished with a result of 8.72 to finish in second place. Her performance places her at No. 6 in all-time is school history.
The 4x400 meter relay team, consisting of Adelaide Asante, Lauren Harris, India Ingemi, and Arianna Smith, secured a second place finish with a time of 3:49.01.
In the 200 meter dash, Brianna Mponzi secured first place with a time of 24.53, her performance will take her to No. 8 on the all-time performances list.
India Ingemi's performance will allow her name to be right below Mponzi's at the No. 9 spot, finishing in third with 24.80. To finish the evnt out for the Tigers, Harlowe Brumett-Dunn placed 8th with a time of 25.50 seconds.
Maddie Cramer secured 4th place in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.17. In the 400m dash, Maisha Atkinson placed 7th with a time of 57.94, and Lauren Harris secured 9th place with a time of 58.41 seconds.
In the 60m dash, Brianna Mponzi took second place with an all-time performance of 7.56. Her result is a tie for the No. 1 Princeton school record (with teammate Olivia Hee and former tiger Christina Walter). Lee finished in third with a season best result of 7.70.
Overall, the Princeton women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Villanova Invitational, with several first-place finishes and notable individual performances.

Head coach, Michelle Eisenreich, commented, "The goal for this weekend was to set our team up for success going into H-Y-P next, and to really smooth out our performances in different areas that needed attention. After this weekends' performances I think we are in a great spot heading up to Harvard. We have a lot of depth as a team and know the level of competitiveness that we can achieve going into the Heptagonal Championships later on."
