Princeton, N.J. – The Princeton Men's Track and Field team is set for the annual H-Y-P meet this Saturday, January 28th hosted by Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The meet will be streamed this year on ESPN+.
Last season in 2022, the H-Y-P meet was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Tigers, coming off a great weekend of Princeton performances at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational, will be ready to take on Harvard and Yale University for some great Ivy League competition and gain an early preview into this years' Heptagonal Indoor Championships.
Princeton has been off to a strong start this season and has gained national recognition upon the most recent installment of the 2023 U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings poll.
Princeton was ranked within the top ten, landing at No. 8.
Last weekend, the Tiger men recorded four, all-time Princeton records. Greg Foster's 7.89m Long Jump is ranked third all-time in school history and his 7.93 performance in the 60m hurdles ranks fourth all-time for Princeton. Foster's Long Jump is also currently ranked third in the NCAA.
Philip Kastner's strong, 5604 point performance in the Heptathlon earned himself a spot on the Princeton all-time performance list, coming in at No. 3. Kastner's performance is also within the NCAA top-ten at No. 4.
Joey Gant ran a 21.67 200m dash in Annapolis, to land the ninth best performance in school history.
The Tigers will look to continue their dominance at the H-Y-P this weekend, and leave Cambridge with another victory.
"Our team always looks forward to competing in the annual H-Y-P meet, and we have been able to win over 25 times", said Head Coach of Men's Track and Field, Fred Samara. "It is a great opportunity to get a first look at the teams before the championship season, and we are hoping for a number of great performances on Saturday."
The field events are set to take place at noon on Saturday followed by the running events at 2:30 p.m.
