No. 16 Women's Water Polo Collects Two Top-25 Wins Saturday

PRINCETON – The No. 16 Women's Water Polo began the Princeton Winter Tournament with two wins on Saturday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool.
No. 16 Princeton 11, No. 15 UC San Diego 10
The Tigers began the game with three straight tallies with one from Kayla Yelensky and two from Jovana Sekulic. The Tritons ended the quarter with two of three to set the score at 4-2 as the second frame got underway.
UC San Diego eventually tied the game at 4-all with 3:43 to go in the first half. The two teams exchanged goals before the Tritons scored with five seconds to go to hold a 6-5 advantage at the break.
Sekulic opened the second half with her third tally, before UC San Diego countered with two straight. Tallies from Rachael Carver and Shanna Davidson tied the meeting at eight as the fourth quarter began.
The game was tied for a fifth and sixth time in the fourth frame before Sekulic came up clutch for Princeton …

Head coach Derek Ellingson's group had three players post hat tricks in Sekulic, Yelensky and Kate Mallery. Nine different Tigers scored in the victory.
