Men's Tennis Falls to No. 1 UVA at ITA Kickoff
January 29, 2023 | Men's Tennis
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Princeton University men's tennis team fell to defending National Champion No. 1 Virginia Sunday afternoon at the Boar's Head Sports Club, in the Championship match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend Virginia Regional.
"Today was a good opportunity to play the top team in the country and defending champs," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "UVA played well and didn't really let us get our teeth into the match. Part of that, however, is also on us as we started way too tentatively. That continued in singles as we had numerous no ad and conversion points we didn't seize. That's a hallmark of a great team and UVA certainly did that where we didn't. Nonetheless, there's a lot to learn from and we'll need to take these lessons into a very tough weekend on the road at Vanderbilt and MTSU."
