Men's Tennis Triumphs at Vanderbilt, 4-2
February 04, 2023 | Men's Tennis
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Princeton University men's tennis team earned its second victory of the season over a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent Saturday afternoon, when it earned a 4-2 win over Vanderbilt at the Curley Tennis Center.
"It was a great effort in singles from our guys top to bottom. Vanderbilt is a very strong and balanced team. They jumped on us in doubles but we rebounded well in singles getting on the board quickly at No. 1. There were several swings in momentum, but I was proud of how we showed great resiliency and stayed the course. Incredibly gritty performances today from Ellis in getting us the third point and setting up Thomas to close it out. Both them really turned their matches around and finished strong. We have very little time to enjoy the win with a highly ranked and fierce MTSU squad tomorrow. We'll need to be at our best."
While the Commodores took the doubles point, the Tigers bounced back strongly in singles. At the No. 1 position, Fnu Nidjianzan earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Joubert Klopper, while at No. 2 Will Peters prevailed over Nathan Cox, 6-4, 7-6. At No. 4, Thomas Bosancic outlasted Jeremie Casabon 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, and Short earned a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Siim Troost at No. 5.
