Women's Volleyball Drops Friday Night Contest to Yale

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team returned to action Friday night inside Dillon Gymnasium, falling to Yale 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-19).
The Tigers were led in kills by freshman Erin McNair who had seven along with four digs, while freshman Sydney Draper recorded a team-high 16 assists and eight digs. Freshman Sydney Bold tallied a team-high nine digs, while sophomores Lucia Scalamandre and Valerie Nutakor each recorded one block.
The first set saw the Bulldogs use an early 6-0 run to race out to an 8-3 advantage. Yale maintained its momentum and used another 7-0 run to take a 19-5 lead. From there, the Bulldogs held on to prevail 25-13.
Yale also had a strong start to the second set, opening it with a 4-0 run. The Bulldogs would extend their lead to 14-7, but the Tigers showed resolve and made it a 14-9 contest after kills by Draper and junior Mariah Haislip. Unfortunately for Princeton, another 4-0 Yale run put the Bulldogs ahead 22-13, they would then go on to win the set 25-16 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set began as a back-and-forth battle, with a 3-0 Princeton run making it a one-point set at 11-10. Yale responded with 3-0 run of its own to go 14-10 but kills by Haislip and McNair made it 14-12. Two points was as close as it got for the Tigers, as the Bulldogs pulled away to earn a 25-19 victory in the set and a 3-0 victory in the match.
