Regular Season Play Ends For Women's Volleyball With Senior Night Triumph Over Harvard

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team wrapped up regular season play with a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 26-24) victory over Harvard Saturday night inside Dillon Gymnasium.
Prior to the match, a short ceremony was held honoring the Tigers' senior class consisting of Julia Cabri, Maya Satchell and Kathleen Bishop.
Satchell was dominant in the final home match of her career, recording a match and career-high kills on a .349 hitting percentage along with four digs and two service aces. Sophomore Lucia Scalamandre added 11 kills, five digs, two service aces and one block. Freshman Sydney Draper handed out a match-high 44 assists, and freshman Sydney Bold recorded a match-high 18 digs for the Tigers.
A pair of Chaney kills along with a Satchell kill gave the Tigers an early 3-1 advantage in the first set. A kill by Bishop ignited a 5-0 run that put the Tigers ahead, 11-5, but Harvard battled back to tie it up at 19-19. Another kill by Satchell sparked a 4-0 run that swung the momentum Princeton's way as the Tigers would go on take the first set, 25-22.
While the second set belonged to the Crimson, a kill by sophomore Valerie Nutakor early in the third set led a 5-0 run that gave the Tigers a 6-1 advantage. While it was close, the Tigers stayed in front for the remainder of the set. Up 18-15, a kill by Scalamandre ignited a 4-0 run that saw Princeton's advantage increase to seven, 22-15. From there, the Tigers would go on to earn a 25-22 third set victory.
Princeton started the fourth set strong, opening it with a 6-0 run sparked by a sophomore Nutakor kill. With the Tigers up 12-8, another kill by Nutakor led a 4-0 run that put Princeton in front, 16-8. Harvard was able to narrow the deficit to two at 20-18, then eventually earn set point at 24-18. Satchell ensured her senior night ended on a high note, recording a kill that led a 3-0 run on which the Tigers would close the match out on. A kill by junior Mariah Haislip saw Princeton take match point before the contest ended on a Crimson attacking error, 26-24 in the set and 3-1 in the match.
