St. Rose Paces Women's Basketball With 22 Points In Victory Over San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Madison St. Rose led all scorers with 22 points as the Princeton Women's Basketball Team defeated the University of San Diego Toreros, 62-51, at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers forced the Toreros to miss their first nine shots and allowed just two baskets in the first quarter and led 16-10 after 10 minutes.

Princeton used a 13-4 run in the second frame to extend its lead to 13, 29-16, with 2:19 left in the first half. The Tigers maintained a 13-point lead at the break, 31-18.

St. Rose registered 16 points in the first half on 7-of-9 shooting. The Tigers gave up just five baskets in the first 20 minutes of action.

In front by 13, 35-22, Princeton scored 11 of the next 16 points to jump ahead by its largest lead of the contest, 46-27, before settling with an 18-point hold after 30 minutes (48-30).

Hed coach Carla Berube's team was never threatened in the fourth quarter.

St. Rose finished with 22 points on 10-of-16 from the floor while Kaitlyn Chen contributed 13 points, six assists, two steals, two blocks and was a game-high +25.

Princeton will head to Fort Myers, Fla. For the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-off to take on No. 25 Oklahoma on Thursday (3 p.m.) and No. 18 Indiana on Saturday (11 a.m.).
