November 23, 2023 | Women's Basketball
FORT MYERS – Madison St. Rose registered 24 points as the Princeton Women's Basketball Team took down the No. 20 Oklahoma Sooners, 77-63.
Â
Princeton scored 17 of the first 20 points of the contest and led 23-7 after 10 minutes. The Tigers gave up just three baskets in the quarter, making the Sooners shoot 16 percent.
Â
Oklahoma charged back in the second quarter, cutting deficit to four, 27-23 following a 16-2 sprint. The Tigers countered with a 9-2 run of their own to keep the top-25 squad at bay and take a 38-29 advantage at the break.
Â
Ahead by eight, 46-38, the Tigers ran out with 10 of the next 11 points, pushing their advantage out to 17, 56-39, with 3:15 to go in the third quarter.
Â
The Sooners got within 11, but St. Rose answered with a three-pointer on the next trip down the floor.
Â
Oklahoma wouldn't get closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Kaitlyn Chen registered her second 20+ point performance of the season on 9-of-15 shooting. Ellie Mitchell posted 18 rebounds along with seven helpers and four steals while Skye Belker had 12 points and three swipes in the victory.Â
Â
This is Princeton's fourth program win over a Top-25 team and the third in the last three seasons. The Ivy League has only three other top-25 victories (men or women) during that stretch (Princeton Men's, Arizona and Missouri last season and Penn over Villanova this season).Â
