Women's Basketball Drops Close One To No. 19 Indiana, 72-63

FORT MYERS – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team rallied, but ultimately fell to the No. 19 Indiana Hoosiers, 72-63, on Saturday morning.

The Hoosiers ran out with eight of the first 10 points of the contest and led 16-3 before the Tigers ripped off eight straight to end the first quarter.

In front by five, Indiana jumped out with a 19-4 run to expand its advantage to 20, 37-17, with 1:48 to go in the first half. The Hoosiers led 41-24 at the break after shooting 10-of-12 from the floor during the second frame.

Trailing by 17, Princeton registered 11 of the final 16 points of the third stanza to close the gap to 11, 56-45. Kaitlyn Chen and Ellie Mitchell scored 15 of the team's 21 points during this stretch.

After a basket by the Hoosiers, the Tigers made one more push with seven consecutive points to set the score at 58-52 with eight minutes remaining. After exchanging baskets, Princeton could not get closer than seven the rest of the way.

Chen finished with a team-high 16 points, adding four assists. Mitchell contributed her 13th career double-double with 11 points, 16 rebounds along with three blocks and three steals. Chet Nweke corralled six points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal and was a team-best +1 in 29 minutes of action.

Princeton heads home to take on Seton Hall on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
