No. 25 Women's Basketball Named USBWA National Team Of The Week

PRINCETON – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team was named the United States Basketball Writers' Association National Team of the Week ahead of its contest vs. Seton Hall on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Tigers are at No. 25 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll that came out on Monday. It's the first time they were both ranked in each poll since the 2022-23 preseason polls came out.
OLD BRIDGE, N.J.
•Madison St. Rose leads the team in scoring at 17.7 points per contest which is 74th in the NCAA.
•St. Rose is 68th nationally in field goal attempts (90), 78th in field goals (39) and 95th in total points (106).
The sophomore has three 20+ point outings this season including 24 in the victory over No. 20 Oklahoma.
SPRING LAKES HEIGHTS, N.J.
•Ellie Mitchell continues to be one of the best in the country as she is third in country in rebounds per contest (12.7), sixth in total rebounds (76), 12th in defensive rebounds (8.0) and 12th in offensive boards per game (4.7).
•Mitchell has 43 games with at least 10 rebounds or more. She recorded six as a freshman, 16 as a sophomore, 17 as a junior and four this season. She corralled 34 rebounds combined in two contests in Florida vs. No. 20 Oklahoma and No. 19 Indiana.
•According to HerHoopsStats.com, Mitchell is only the sixth Div. I player since 2009-10 to put up 18 rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a game (vs. Oklahoma) and the first to do it against a Power Six team.
•She has the two highest rebounding totals (338 last
season and 311 in 2021-22) ever by a Tiger. She is fourth all-time in rebounds (895) and is 47 boards shy of Ellen DeVoe for third (942).
•Mitchell posted her 13th career double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds vs. No. 19 Indiana.

•Head coach Carla Berube's unit is No. 7 in Her Hoop Stats' Simple RPI (65.7 which treats all games equally (25% Team Win %, 50% Average Opponent Win %, 50% Average Opponent's Average Opponent Win %).
•It is different from the NCAA RPI because the NCAA RPI values home wins as 0.6 wins, home losses as 1.4 losses, away wins as 1.4 wins, and away losses as 0.6 losses.
•The Tigers' opponents average scoring margin per 100 possessions is +15.6, 17th best while their average points per 100 possessions is 101.8, 19th in the nation.
•Princeton sits No. 25 in Her Hoops Stats Defensive Rating (78.4), a statistic that controls for pace and adjusts defensive rating for the strength of the offenses teams have faced.
•The Tigers are No. 31 in Her Hoops Stats Rating (25.1) a rating of teams that controls for pace, adjusts for opponent quality, and incorporates margin of victory in addition to wins and losses.
