Powered By 74 Bench Points, Men's Basketball Takes Down Bryn Athyn, 92-40

PRINCETON, N.J. – Powered by 74 bench points, the Princeton University men's basketball team moved to 10-1 with a 92-40 triumph over Bryn Athyn Wednesday afternoon inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
Junior Darius Gakwasi led the game with a career-high 18 points that came on 8-for-14 shooting from the field. Gakwasi also had a career-high four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Freshman Jackson Hicke recorded his first career double-double, finishing with a season-high 12 points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field, 2-for-2 shooting from three and 4-for-4 shooting from the free throw line. Additionally, Hicke pulled down a season and game-high 15 rebounds and had a season and game-high 5 assists along with two steals.
Freshman Jacob Huggins also recorded his first career double-double and had season-highs across the board, finishing with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting and 11 rebounds. Freshman Derek Sangster also added a season-high 10 points along with a season-high five rebounds, while sophomore Vernon Collins tallied a season-high 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting and three rebounds.
Ignited by a sophomore Caden Pierce layup with 19:36 on the clock, the Tigers opened the game on a 13-0 run. With 13:17 remaining in the half, a layup by Gakwasi sparked another 13-0 run, this time putting Princeton ahead 30-5 at 10:12 after another Gakwasi layup.
The game of runs continued for the Tigers, with a free throw by sophomore Jack Scott leading a 14-0 run that extended Princeton's advantage to 44-7 with 4:48 on the clock after a three-pointer by Gakwasi. The momentum stayed with Princeton for the remainder for the half and the Tigers would take a 53-15 advantage into halftime.
Similar to the first half, the Tigers opened the second on fire. A Gakwasi jumper led a 14-0 run that saw Princeton extend its lead to 52 points, 67-15, following a sophomore Vernon Collins layup with 15:27 remaining.
Sangster's third three-pointer of the contest put Princeton ahead 72-21 with 11:56 left to play, and a layup by Collins kept the Tigers in front, 85-36, with 5:04 on the clock. The final five minutes were all Princeton, and the Tigers would end the game victors with a final score of 92-40.
