Men's Track & Field Has Strong Showing At Joe Handelman Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ - The Princeton men's track and field team wrapped up its Joe Handelman Invitational this Saturday evening in Jadwin Gym. All final results can be found here.
Things got started Saturday afternoon with the weight throw. All three Tigers placed first through third in this event. Avery Shunneson, with a distance of 19.40m (63-7.75), and a personal record, took first place, which puts him on the Princeton top-10, placing eighth and overtaking Peter Seley '90. Paul Brennan and Asher Robbins followed in second and third place with 19.15m (62-10) and 17.87m (58-7.50) results.
On the main floor of Jadwin, the atmosphere was charged with the excitement of the jump events. Richard Lawson showcased his athletic prowess with a triple jump distance of 13.56 (44-6.00), taking first place, and a long jump distance of 6.89m (22-7.25), securing second place. Following closely behind in the long jump, Lorenzo Cagliero claimed the third spot. Meanwhile, in the high jump competition, John Hogan soared to victory, clinching first place for the Tigers with an impressive jump of 1.95m (6-4.75).

Returning to the lower level, Joe Licata continued his impressive performance after earning a spot in the top-10 program list for shot put at the TCNJ Invite last week with an exceptional throw of 18.33m (60-1.75). Today, he claimed first place with a powerful throw of 17.95m (59-10.75). Tyler Konopka secured the second spot, with Casey Helm and Avery Shunneson following closely to finish the event in third and fourth place, respectively.
In the pole vault competition, Nick Molloy and Philip Kastner claimed the top two positions, with Molloy seizing the first-place spot by clearing a height of 4.45 meters (14-7.25).
Returning to the track, the sophomore Easton Tan secured yet another first-place victory for the Tigers in the 60m hurdles, completing the race in 8.09 seconds. Albert Kreuzer trailed closely, clinching a second-place finish with a time of 8.27 seconds.
In the 60m race, freshmen claimed both the first and second positions. Not only did their impressive times secure top finishes at the Joe Handelman Invite, but they also earned spots in the Princeton Indoor top-10 record book. Zach Della Rocca posted a time of 6.80, securing the 9th spot in the top-10, while fellow freshman Jackson Clarke closely followed with a time of 6.82, earning him the 10th spot.

The men showcased their dominance in the 300m, sweeping the first through fifth positions. Greg Foster led the pack, claiming the top spot with an impressive time of 35.26 seconds, while Chris Paige secured second place with a notable time of 35.31 seconds.
In the final event of the invitational, Princeton A took first place in the 4x400m with a time of 3:19.24. Princeton A squad consisted of Xavier Donaldson, Zach Della Rocca, Jackson Clarke, and Kavon Miller.

The women's track and field team will travel to Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the Navy Duel on Saturday, January 13th.
