
Men's Basketball Upends Brown, 78-67

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team improved its record in Ivy League play to a conference-best 8-3 Friday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium, upending Brown 78-67.
Junior Matt Allocco led the game with 20 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field, and a perfect 6-for-6 mark from the free throw line. Senior Tosan Evbuomwan added 17 points, a game-high nine rebounds along with a game-high seven assists, while sophomore Blake Peters finished with a career-high 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field and 4-for-7 shooting from three. Freshman Caden Pierce tied the game-high in rebounds with nine, and also scored nine points.
As a team, Princeton out-rebounded Brown 46-38.
The Tigers opened the game with back-to-back threes by senior Ryan Langborg and Allocco, taking a 6-0 lead with 19:15 left in the half. Shortly after, Princeton would extend its lead to 11-5 with 13:36 on the clock, following an Evbuomwan layup and a senior Konrad Kiszka three-pointer.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Peters saw the Tigers jump ahead, 21-12, with 10:34 remaining in the half. A pair of free throws by Evbuomwan would soon push Princeton's lead into double digits, 25-14, at 8:15.
With 4:40 on the clock, a pair of free throws by Peters led a 6-0 run that gave the Tigers a 31-22 advantage after a pair of Pierce free throws with 3:50 remaining in the half, and Princeton would take a 39-29 lead into the half.
Princeton extended its advantage to 12 early in the second half, with a pair of Allocco free throws giving the Tigers a 44-23 lead with 16:34 left to play. The Tigers would soon take a 15-point lead, 51-36, after a pair of free throws by freshman Xaivian Lee with 13:46 left to play.
A Peters layup at 9:25 followed by a Peters three-pointer with 8:23 remaining kept the Tigers in front by 11, 58-47. Evboumwan and Allocco continued to make big plays down the stretch, with consecutive layups by the duo giving Princeton a 69-54 lead at 4:22.
Pierce threw down a powerful two-handed dunk with 2:44 remaining after receiving a lob from Evbuomwan to put the Tigers ahead, 74-63, and the Tigers would hold on for the victory.
