Men's Basketball Falls to Yale in OT

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's basketball team to Yale in overtime Saturday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium, 93-83.
Senior Tosan Evbuomwan led the team with 22 points, 10 rebounds and handed out a game-high six assists. With 286 career assists, he moved inside the top-10 all-time in program history for assists. Junior Zach Martini added a career-high 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting from deep, with his four made three-pointers also a career-best, while junior Matt Allocco added 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting. Senior Ryan Langborg also finished with 12 points, five assists and three rebounds, while bringing his career three-point total to 138 and moving inside the top-15 all-time at Princeton
With help from back-to-back threes by Martini, the Tigers took a 6-1 lead with 16:42 on the clock. Princeton would extend its advantage to double-digits, 15-5, after a Pierce three-pointer at 13:02.
A 7-0 Bulldog run saw Yale narrow the deficit and make it an 18-14 contest with 11:05 on the clock, but an Evbuomwan layup followed by a Peters three-pointer gave the Tigers a 23-14 advantage at 7:34. The Bulldogs responded with an 8-0 run, and made it 25-24 with 4:36 remaining in the half.
Senior Keeshawn Kellman threw down a powerful two-handed dunk then drained a pair of free throws with 1:34 left in the half, and Princeton took a 34-26 lead into halftime.
A pair of early baskets gave Princeton a 38-28 advantage with 17:21 left to play, before Martini's third three-pointer of the contest gave the Tigers a 12-point lead, 44-32, with 15:53 on the clock.
With 10:37 remaining in the half, freshman Caden Pierce drained a three-pointer that ignited a 9-0 run and gave the Tigers a 62-41 advantage after a pair of Evbuomwan free throws at 8:29. While the Bulldogs used a 7-0 run to narrow it 63-51 with 6:44 remaining, Princeton a pair of Evbuomwan free throws with 5:02 on the clock put Princeton up 65-51.
Yale chipped away at the lead, and made it a 66-60 contest with 2:23 left to play, then made it a one-point game, 69-68, with 0:10 left to play. True to the back-and-forth nature of the second half, regulation ended with the score tied at 70-70 and the game went to overtime.
Kellman drained a pair of free throws at 4:18, and gave Princeton a 74-72 lead, but the Bulldogs were able to pull away and secure the overtime victory.
