
Men's Track and Field Finishes Day One of Indoor Heps with Two Ivy Champions

Full Schedule of Events Saturday – Sunday
Hanover, N.H. - The Princeton men's track and field team had a great showing throughout the first day of the 2023 Indoor Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, ending the day with two Tigers earning first-place, championship honors.
The competitiveness could be felt throughout the atmosphere of the Dartmouth, Leverone Field House as the top athletes throughout the Ivy League put their talents out on display for a fierce first day of competition.
The Tigers in the field portion of today's events ended day one with a pair of huge, Princeton performances.
In the Long Jump, first year Greg Foster, was named an Ivy League champion thanks to his 7.86m leap. Foster jumped this performance on his fifth attempt to secure the first-place victory and set a meet record mark.
Sondre Guttormsen also ended the day as an Ivy League champion with a first-place finish in the pole vault.
Guttormsen's result of 5.70 m was a meet record mark that provided the Tiger men another first place finish, and Guttormsen his second consecutive Ivy champion title in the pole vault.
Tyler Konopka and Casey Helm both earned points for Princeton in the shot put, and both set new PRs. Konopka finished in third with an impressive 17.53m mark, and Casey Helm took fourth with 17.42m.
The Men's 3000m saw a competitive showing from the Ivy League distance runners. In a tight race until the final laps, Josh Zelek finished within the top-five, to take fourth at 8:09.90, and earn more Tiger points.
The Men's Heptathlon will conclude on day two of competition, but Philip Kastner currently leads with 3218 points after finishing the 60m in 7.03, the long jump with a mark of 7.29, the shot put with 13.62m toss, and the high jump with a mark of 1.95m. Kastner will be finishing up tomorrow with the 60m hurdles, the Pole Vault, and 1000m.
Day Two Qualifiers
In the 60m Hurdles, Greg Foster and Jovan Aigbekaen will compete in Sunday's finals. Foster finished with a mark of 8.00, to take second place, and Aigbekaen's mark of 8.16 earned him sixth place and a spot in tomorrow's finals.
Anderson Dimon will represent the Tigers in the 500m after finishing in second at 1:03.87.
Ethan Reese, Jordan Kaplan, and Connor Chen will compete in the 800m finals on Sunday. Reese took a second-place finish with a 1:51.92 finish, Kaplan finished in third at 1:52.36, and Chen placed eighth at 1:53.46.
Duncan Miller, Myles Hogan, Nicholas Bendtsten, and Jack Stanley will all compete in the Mile race finals on Sunday. Miller took a first place finish at 4:06.57, Hogan was second with 4:07.63, Bendsten finished third at 4:07.76, and Stanley placed fourth at 4:08.00.
In the 60m, Daniel Duncan and Ibrahim Ayorinde will compete in Sunday's finals. Duncan finished with a mark of 6.76, to take first place, and Ayorinde's mark of 6.82 earned him third place and a spot in tomorrow's finals.
In the Men's 1000m, Sam Rodman and Joseph Fast qualified for the Day 2 finals. Rodman took first place with a 2:26.14 finish, and Fat placed sixth, coming in at 2:27.34.
Three Tigers will advance to compete in the 200m finals. Daniel Duncan took first at 21.63, Ibrahim Ayorinde finished third at 21.68, and Joey Gant finished in fifth at 21.83.
The Princeton men finished the day with 34 points as a team, and currently sit at second place with 4 of 20 events complete. The Tigers will look to crown more champions throught Sunday's events and continue to show their strength, unity, and depth as a team on Day 2.
