No. 46 Men's Tennis Up 3-2 Against No. 34 Before Match Called Off Due To Weather
March 19, 2023 | Men's Tennis
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 46 Princeton University men's tennis team was leading No. 34 VCU 3-2 before the match ended due to weather Sunday at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.
"Great effort from our guys today against VCU," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "We started off strong and gained the upper hand in singles by winning four first sets. Unfortunately, we couldn't quite get a result due to the weather. We put ourselves in a good position to get the win and Seb was two points away at 6-5 in the 3rd set tiebreaker. Tough one to not have a chance to compete but it was a good weekend for us and we'll look forward to getting back home and preparing for our next matches."
The Tigers earned wins in three singles matches, which was played first; Fnu Nidunjianzan took down No. 67 Charles Bertimon at No. 1 6-4, 6-3, and Will Peters defeated Rayane Stable 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3. Ellis Short also upended Romain Gales at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2.
