Raleigh, N.C. – The Princeton women's track and field team kicked off the Raleigh Relays in full force on Thursday, posting strong performances in several events at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
Thursday Field Events
The Princeton women were represented in three field events on Thursday including the pole vault, javelin, and the shot put.
The Tigers had a balance of first years and seasoned veterans competing among a vast pool of collegiate talent from across the country on the first day of competition.
Freshman Tessa Mudd took a second-place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 4.05m.
Mudd, who set a new Ivy league record of 4.31m during the indoor season, continued her strong performances outdoors with a second-place finish in the pole vault on Thursday.
Already off to a great start, Mudd's outdoor season debut performance in Raleigh will earn her a spot at No. 3 on the Princeton all-time performance list.
SJ Cohen also had a strong performance in the pole vault taking a top five finish to come in fourth with a mark of 3.70m.
Within the field, The tiger throwers also had an admirable showing in the Javelin.
2022 Ivy Champion, Kate Joyce, finished with a mark of 49.62m to earn a fifth-place finish on day one of competition in Raleigh.
Freshman Shea Greene made her collegiate debut and earned a ninth-place finish with her mark of 44.68m. The first-year tiger will already take a spot on the top ten all-time Princeton performances list at No. 4 all time.
Sophomore thrower Siniru Iheoma competed on Thursday in the shot put. Iheoma finished with an impressive mark of 14.22m and was the lone Tiger to compete in the event.
The Raleigh Relays will continue on Friday at 9:45 a.m. beginning with the women's discus.
