Albuquerque, NM – Three members of the Princeton University men's track and field team will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships from Friday, March 10th – Saturday, March 11th inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Â
First year, Greg Foster, will be making his Indoor Championship debut for the Tigers competing in the Long Jump. Foster's 7.89m mark from the Wesley A. Brown Invitational earns him a chance to compete in Albuquerque. Foster is the only freshman who will be competing within the Long Jump at the championships, and his mark ranks 12th in the NCAA.Â
At this years' Indoor Heps, Foster was named an Ivy Champion within the Long Jump and also set a Meet Record, with his mark of 7.86 m.
Â
Sondre Guttormsen will be competing in the Men's Pole Vault as the top, No. 1 seed. Guttormsen will be competing in the same venue in which he recorded his championship qualifying mark of 5.90 m from the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center. This performance from Guttormsen not only ranks first in the NCAA, but is the fifth, highest jump in NCAA history.Â
Â
At this years' Indoor Heps, Guttormsen was named an Ivy Champion and set a Meet Record, with his mark of 5.70 m. Guttormsen also recently won gold at this years' European Athletics Indoor Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Â
Guttormsen's victory at the Championships Âis the first time a Norwegian Pole Vaulter has won gold, and it took him just three vaults to secure his new title, clearing 5.80m.
Â
On the track, Sam Rodman will compete in the Men's 800m Run Prelims, thanks to his 2023 qualifying time of 1:46.96 at the BU Hemery Valentine Invitational. This performance currently ranks 13th in the NCAA and stands as the No. 1 all time Princeton Record.
