No. 6 Women's Water Polo Collects CWPA Split

ANN ARBOR – The No. 6 Princeton Women's Water Polo team picked up a split in Collegiate Water Polo Association action.
No. 12 Michigan 7, No. 6 Princeton 6
The first quarter was played at feverish pace with six goals combined. Neither team led by more than a goal as a tally from Michigan's Kata Utassy set the contest at 3-all. The two teams added goals in the second quarter making it 4-4 at the break.
Michigan began the second half with three straight goals before two consecutive tallies from Kayla Yelensky got Princeton back within one, 7-6, with 2:01 left. The Tigers had several possessions but couldn't find the equalizer to fall to the Wolverines.

After the Bison scored the first goal of the game, the Tigers rolled out with seven straight goals. Princeton's offense hardly let up, taking a 9-2 lead into halftime.
Head coach Derek Ellingson's group scored just twice in the third frame but solidified an impressive victory with a six-goal fourth quarter.
Princeton had nine different goal scorers with Shanna Davidson's hat trick. The Tigers can clinch the No. 1 seed in the CWPA Tournament with a win over Saint Francis Sunday (10:30 a.m.).
