April 27, 2023 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON – The No. 1 Women's Lightweight Rowing Team heads to the Eastern Sprints this weekend at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
Princeton's 1V has been dominant this season, taking down Radcliffe, No. 4 Stanford and No. 3 Georgetown all by at least 10 seconds. The 1V has not lost a regular season race since 2019.
The Tigers have won the last two gold medals at the Eastern Sprints in 2022 and 2019. The group had gradually improved from fourth place in 2016 to bronze in 2017 to silver in 2018 before consecutive gold medals.
In 2022, the 1V8 raced out to almost a five-second victory (6:32.76) over Georgetown (6:37.26). Harvard, BU and Wisconsin followed the Hoyas. It was the first time that Princeton has won consecutive golds since 2002-03.
The Varsity Double starts the action on Sunday at 12:20 p.m. Racing continues through until the Varsity Eight final at 12:50.
