Softball Team to Host Lehigh Wednesday

For the third time this season, the Princeton softball team will face Lehigh, a non-league opponent with which it has strong ties as the Mountain Hawks come to Princeton Softball Stadium at Strubing Field on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. single game.

Princeton has won 9 of 11 games since returning from the annual spring trip, including a 7-2 start in Ivy League play that has put Princeton atop the league along with Harvard, also at 7-2. This weekend's opponent, Columbia, is just a game back at 6-3.
Serena Starks (.345) and Adrienne Chang (.346) lead Princeton at the plate, and Alexis Laudenslager (6-8, 2.41 ERA) and Brielle Wright (3-3, 3.37) have combined to throw 119 1/3 of the team's 180 1/3 innings on the season. Catcher Ashley McDonald stands 10th in the nation in runners caught stealing, with 10, while Meghan Harrington's four saves on the season tie her for the program single-season record, and her five career saves tie her for second in program history, behind only the nine that Riley Wilkinson '19 had. Laudenslager's 9.5 Ks-per-seven stands 29th in the nation.
Lehigh enters the game having won 10 straight, including a 6-0 start in the Patriot League. Josie Charles (.448), Carley Barjaktarovich (.369), Emily Cimino (.346), Sydney Parlett (.309) and Lily Owens (.304) are all hitting above .300 for the Mountain Hawks, and Chloe Hess (9-2, 1.59 ERA and Katelyn Young (14-3, 1.72) have combined to throw 190 of the team's 236 1/3 innings. Hess is also sixth in the nation with four saves, while Young is 19th in the nation in wins and Charles' 44 hits stand 18th.
Princeton leads the all-time series with the Mountain Hawks 31-23-1 and went 1-0-1 in the teams' last meeting, a doubleheader last season in Princeton. Wednesday's game will be the latest meeting between Princeton coach Lisa Van Ackeren, a four-time Patriot League Pitcher of the Year at Lehigh ('09), helping the Mountain Hawks to three NCAA tournaments. The former Lisa Sweeney's name is listed more than 100 times in the Patriot League record book, and she still holds the record with 141 career games pitched, 112 career games started as a pitcher, 91 career complete games, 104 career wins, 774.2 career innings pitched, 31 career shutouts, 928 career strikeouts, 304 strikeouts in a season, 8.39 career Ks per seven, 10.2 season Ks per seven.
