Softball Splits Pair at San Diego State, Defeating Notre Dame

Princeton split a Sunday doubleheader to close the weekend at the SDSU Softball Stadium, opening the day with a 4-1 win over Notre Dame before falling to San Diego State, 14-6.
The Tigers (7-6) will conclude the West Coast trip Monday night against the University of San Diego at 7 p.m. ET.
In the opener, Princeton rode a complete-game performance from Cassidy Shaw and timely late offense to defeat Notre Dame, 4-1. Shaw allowed just one run on seven hits across seven innings while striking out six to earn the win.
The Tigers broke through in the third inning when Maddie Ratcheson drove in a run to give Princeton a 1-0 lead. After Notre Dame tied the game in the bottom half, Princeton regained the advantage in the fifth before pulling away with two runs in the seventh. Julia Dumais scored twice in the game and added a double, while Graciela Dominguez also delivered an RBI.
In the second game of the day, Princeton built an early lead but could not hold off San Diego State in a 14-6 loss.
The Tigers struck first with a run in the opening inning and added two more in the third on a two-run home run by Ratcheson. Princeton extended its lead to 6-5 in the fourth when Mia Valenzuela launched a solo homer as part of a three-run frame.
San Diego State responded with nine runs over the final three innings to pull away. Valenzuela finished with three RBIs for Princeton, while Dominguez recorded two hits and a stolen base.
