Baseball's Postseason Journey Begins at Penn This Weekend

PRINCETON – The Princeton Baseball Team's postseason journey begins this weekend at the Ivy League Tournament.
The double elimination tournament begins with No. 2 Harvard vs. No. 3 Princeton at 11 a.m. No. 1 Penn and No. 4 Columbia play at 3 p.m. on May 19th.
The two losers of those contests will play in an elimination game on May 20th at 11 a.m. The two winners will play at 3 p.m.
Another elimination game opens up the action at 11 a.m. on May 21st before the winner of game four and game five play at 3 p.m. If necessary, a final, winner take all game will be played May 22nd at 12 p.m.
Scott Bandura has been one of the best players in the Ivy League, collecting a .365 average (second among Ivy players) while posting a 1.087 OPS. He has a team-best 41 runs, .452 on-base percentage along with nine home runs and 41 RBI. Bandura is having an all-time season as he's only six hits shy of the program record, six shy of the runs mark and is one of only eight players to ever reach 100 total bases in a season (101).
The Tigers have six hitters hitting at least .274 in Bandura, Noah Granet (.351), Jake Bold (.300), Eric Marasheski (.276), Brendan Cumming (.274) and Caden Shapiro (.274). Granet has 27 hits in 20 games after returning from injury and Marasheski has an impressive 17 doubles on the campaign. Cumming is second on the unit with 34 runs and Shapiro has registered 31 runs. Bold has corralled a .838 OPS in 32 starts for Princeton behind the dish.
Kyle Vinci set the Ivy League record, collecting his 20th home run of the season vs. Brown on May 6th. His 20 four baggers are 17th in the country while his .49 home runs per game are third best in the NCAA. His 57 RBI and 27 extra base hits are the most in program history while his 109 total bases are fourth most and his .669 slugging percentage would be the third highest by a Princeton Tiger ever.
Tom Chmiewlewski has been the ace of the Princeton staff, recording a 3.21 ERA in 11 starts, striking out 69 in 67 1/3 innings of work. He has pitched six innings in seven of his last eight starts. Jacob Faulkner (4.06 ERA) and Justin Kim (4.09 ERA) have been the two stalwarts out of the bullpen combining for 43 appearances. Faulkner is one game shy of tying the single-season record (24).
Princeton is 22-21 this season and is 4-5 overall against the other three teams in the tournament. The Tigers took two out of three from Columbia, dropped two of three to Penn and Harvard.
