Sondre Guttormsen Earns First Team All-America Honors in the Pole Vault at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Austin, TX – Sondre Guttormsen caps off a record smashing career at Princeton with First Team All-America honors at the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
Guttormsen finished sixth in the pole vault, successfully clearing 5.60m in Austin, Texas. After being just one of seven vaulters left that jumped 5.60m, Sondre passed at attempting 5.70m, but unfortunately was unable to clear 5.80m.
He finishes on the podium for the fourth and final time as a Tiger, leaving a record breaking, lasting legacy at Princeton.
A three-time NCAA champion and four time First-Team All-American pole vaulter at Princeton, Sondre is no stranger to high competition, winning titles at both the 2022 and 2023 NCAA indoor Championships as well as a victory at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
His indoor championship in 2022 was Princeton Track's first individual national title in 20 years, and he repeated as champion in 2023 with a performance that tied the national collegiate record with a jump of 6.0 meters. In addition to his NCAA title, this year Guttormsen became the first Norwegian pole vaulter to win Gold at the European Athletics Indoor Championships.
A four-time Ivy League Champion who has won both the indoor and outdoor pole vault championship for two consecutive seasons, Guttormsen has also set new program and Ivy League pole vaulting records both indoors (6.00m) and outdoors (5.90).
Sondre is not the only Guttormsen leaving a lasting impact upon the Princeton Track and Field program.
Simen Guttormsen also ends his Princeton career in Austin at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. After passing to attempt to clear 5.15m, Simen was unable to clear 5.30m, and finished with a NH result.
Simen also ends his Princeton career with much to be proud of during his time as a Tiger. A two-time First Team All-America honoree, he also holds the No. 2 all-time Princeton performances in both indoor (5.56m) and outdoor pole vault (5.65m).
