Men's Soccer Falls To No. 3 Duke, 2-0
September 04, 2023 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, N.J. - On a 90 degree Labor Day Monday, the Princeton men's soccer team, after a tough match with Rutgers less than 72 hours before, faced off against a rested, No. 3 Duke team. At the end of 90 minutes, the Tigers fell 2-0.
The Tiger defense held Duke scoreless for 50 minutes, with big time stops from Whit Gamblin and Stephen Duncan on the defensive end. Unfortunately, the scoring drought came to an end and Duke's two goals in the game both came at the beginning of the second half. The goal scorers for the Blue Devils were Ulfur Bjornsson and Wayne Frederick in the 50th and 56th minute.
Despite not being able to find an answer to the Duke defense, Princeton displayed impressive depth in its roster as 22 Tigers saw playing time. Among those that found a considerable amount of time were the freshmen Liam Beckwith and Ian Nunez who saw 68 minutes and 52 minutes respectively.
In goal, keeper Khamari Hadaway kept the game within reach for Princeton. Playing all 90 minutes, he had an impressive 10 save game, which puts him at 16 saves in two games.Â
