
Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Ivy League Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – After a 2-0 weekend, the Princeton University women's volleyball team swept the Ivy League's weekly awards Monday afternoon as junior Lucia Scalamandre was honored as Player of the Week and freshman Jackie Onyechi Rookie of the Week.
Scalamandre and Onyechi led the Tigers to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 27-25) victory over Harvard on Oct. 11 then a 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 16-25, 25-17) triumph over Dartmouth on Oct. 12.
Scalamandre averaged 3.14 kills-per-set (22 total kills) on a .390 hitting percentage, 1.14 blocks-per-set (eight total blocks) and had seven digs and one service ace. Against the Big Green, she hit .320 and had 13 kills, six digs, one block and one service ace. Against the Crimson, Scalamandre hit .500 and had nine kills, seven blocks and one dig.
Onyechi averaged 2.43 kills-per-set (17 total kills) on a .536 hitting percentage, 1.57 blocks-per-set (11 total blocks) and had two digs. Against Dartmouth, Onyechi hit .632 and had 13 kills, six blocks and two digs. Against Harvard, Onyechi hit .333 and had four kills, five blocks.
Princeton also received a weekly honor from the Ivy League when sophomore Kamryn Chaney was named Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
