Women's Volleyball Earns Senior Night Sweep Of Columbia

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team, who last night clinched a spot in the Ivy League Tournament, completed the weekend sweep Saturday night inside Dillon Gymnasium, dispatching Columbia, 3-0 (25-26, 25-11, 25-9) with help from a season-high .509 hitting percentage.
Prior to the start of the match, a ceremony was held honoring Princeton's Class of 2025; Mariah Haislip, Shelby Fulton and Gracie Wood.
Sophomore Kamryn Chaney led Princeton with seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage while also adding a match-high eight digs. Senior Mariah Haislip finished with six kills on a .556 hitting percentage and five blocks. The match was led in assists by sophomore Sydney Draper who had 23 along with seven digs, while junior Ella Bunde led the match in service aces with three. Junior Lucia Scalamandre recorded a match-high six blocks.
The first set began as a back-and-forth battle, with the Tigers holding a one-point edge at 14-13 until a Fulton kill followed by a Bunde service ace and Scalamandre solo block extended Princeton's advantage to four, 17-13. Another 3-0 Princeton run saw the Tigers go up five at 21-16, before Princeton closed the set out with a 4-0 run. Fulton delivered set point as the Tigers overcame the Lions, 25-16.
With the Tigers ahead 7-5 in the second set, a kill by junior Valerie Nutakor ignited a 5-0 that put Princeton in front, 12-5. Shortly after, a Chaney kill led a 5-0 run that saw the Tigers go up double figures, 21-8. From there, Princeton went on to earn the 25-11 second set victory and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set was all Princeton. After racing out a 9-2 advantage, a kill by Nutakor sparked a 5-0 run that gave the Tigers an 11-point lead at 14-3. A Wood kill gave the Tigers match point at 24-9 before a Lion attacking error ended the set, 25-9, and the match, 3-0.
