Chea's Career High Paces Women's Basketball Over Villanova

PRINCETON – Ashley Chea scored a career-high 17 points as the Princeton Women's Basketball Team held off the Villanova Wildcats, 70-61, at Jadwin Gym on Wednesday evening.
Even at 37-all, the Tigers ripped off 14-2 run to go in front, 51-39, with under a minute to go in the third quarter. Trailing by 10 as the fourth frame got underway, Villanova made one more push, cutting the deficit to two, 55-53, as the game reached a media timeout with 6:30 on the clock.
The Wildcats eventually made it a one-point game, 59-58, after a Maddie Webber three with 3:13 remaining, but Chea knocked down her fourth trey of the contest while three free throws pushed the advantage back to seven, 65-58, with 56 seconds to go.
Webber hit another triple, but the Tigers put the contest away with five from the charity stripe over 19 seconds of game action.
Princeton led 14-9 more than halfway through the first frame, but the Big East foe managed to get the non-conference battle within two after 10 minutes, 16-14.
Buckets by Chea and Skye Belker to begin the second stanza put the Tigers up six, however the Wildcats fought back and had the game tied at 28-all at halftime.
Madison St. Rose added 13 points along with seven rebounds while Parker Hill had 10 points and five caroms in the win. Webber led all scorers with 23 points while Jasmine Bascoe had 19 points in the loss for Villanova.
Princeton improves to 2-1 overall and will head to Quinnipiac on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
