Cornell Tops Princeton 49-35

The first quarter? That was where the difference between the two teams was.

Cornell jumped out to a three-touchdown lead in the first 15 minutes and withstood each Princeton rush from there to take down the Tigers 49-35 on Powers Field at Princeton Stadium. The teams combined for 820 total yards on the high-scoring day.

The Big Red stormed out of the gate and built a 21-0 lead as quarterback Jameson Wang threw for two scores and ran for another in the first quarter alone. It was 28-0 less than five minutes into the second when Eddy Tillman carried it in from two yards out.

Princeton, though, didn't quit, outscoring Cornell 35-21 the rest of the way. Charley Rossi, who came into the game with one career reception, had two touchdown catches in the second half, though Princeton was unable to get closer than 14 at any point, first at 28-14 and then on Rossi's second TD with 14 seconds to go.

Princeton quarterback Blaine Hipa finished the day going 26 for 40 for 257 yards and three TD's, the other of which was on a Luke Colella connection. Hipa found eight different receivers on the day, led by nine catches from AJ Barber.

Wang had a 23-for-30 day for 262 yards and three touchdowns, of which eight of those completions for 165 of those yards and one of the touchdowns went to Samuel Musungu.

Princeton will be home again Friday night, hosting Dartmouth.
